The Yemeni Houthi group announced on Wednesday evening that two American and British raids targeted the coastal governorate of Hodeidah, western Yemen.

Al-Masirah TV, the Houthi mouthpiece, said, “An American-British aggression targeted the Ras Issa area in Hodeidah Governorate with two raids.”

The channel did not specify the objectives and results of the two raids, while there was no immediate comment from the American or British side in this regard.

Hodeidah is one of the most prominent governorates under the control of the Houthi group, and is located on the Red Sea coast.

In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to continuous Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023, the Houthis are targeting, with missiles and drones, cargo ships in the Red Sea that are owned or operated by Israeli companies, or that transport goods to and from Israel.

To try to deter them, American and British forces launched strikes on their sites in Yemen since January 12, and the American army alone carries out strikes from time to time on missiles that it says are prepared for launch.

As Washington and London intervened and tensions took a noticeable escalation, the Houthi group announced that it now considered all American and British ships among its military targets.
