At least 131 people have been confirmed dead so far in the massive wildfire that broke out in Chile, South America. According to local authorities, the fire has been largely extinguished, but there are still more than 300 people who cannot be contacted, and the number of victims could rise further.

According to Chilean authorities, large-scale wildfires that started mainly on the coast have spread to densely populated areas in the mountains, and at least 131 people have been confirmed dead so far.

Among these areas, in an area where approximately 700 houses are built on the slopes of central Viña del Mar, many of the buildings can be seen with their roofs burnt off and only the walls and pillars left blackened by the fire.

Residents and volunteers worked together to remove debris from the site, where a large area was burnt.

A man in his 50s whose house was completely burnt down said, ``At the time, the wind was strong and the fire was moving quickly. I only had two or three minutes to escape, and my friend in the neighborhood also died.''

According to local fire authorities, more than 300 people are still unreachable, and the number of victims is likely to rise further.

At present, the fire has been largely extinguished, but firefighting efforts are still continuing in some areas.

Investigators are investigating the cause of this wildfire, saying there is information that someone intentionally started the fire.
