Dani Alves had been drinking heavily on the evening of the incident. This, in short, is the line of defense adopted by his lawyer on this second day of the footballer's rape trial. At the bar, the Brazilian's friends confirmed that they had consumed several bottles of wine and whiskey during their dinner.

His wife, Spanish model Joana Sanz, also said he came home that evening “

smelling of alcohol

” and staggering into their bedroom. And one of the nightclub managers described him “

as if he had drunk or taken something

”, saying that Dani Alves “was not acting normally”.

This version is the fifth from the accused who, for a year, has constantly changed his story.

For his part, the victim's version has been the same since the evening of the attack, as confirmed by the police on Tuesday. They assure that the victim was in a state of shock the same evening, that she did not want to file a complaint for fear of repercussions, but that they finally convinced her. “

She said she didn't want money, just for justice to be done

,” said one of the agents.

Tomorrow, Dani Alves will conclude the last day of the trial before returning to prison, awaiting his verdict.
