“Currently, 19 people have been charged, including eight minors, and 18 are in custody,” the report notes.

It is clarified that investigators are investigating a criminal case initiated on the grounds of crimes under Part 2 of Art. 167, part 1 art. 144, part 3 art. 30, pp. “f, g” part 2 art. 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia.

According to the Investigative Committee, from December 2023 to February 2024, the defendants received arson assignments in exchange for a monetary reward. They were supposed to burn car tires in residential buildings at specific addresses in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

Separately, a case of attempted murder by setting car tires on fire on February 4 at the door to an apartment in one of the houses on Budapest Street, in which lived an elderly couple born in 1941 and 1945, is being investigated. Fortunately, the victims were quickly taken to the hospital and received medical assistance.

Earlier in St. Petersburg, suspects were arrested for setting fire to the door of a Radio Sputnik presenter.
