It would be Vladimir Putin's first official interview with a Western media representative since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine: Tucker Carlson has announced that he will meet the Russian President in Russia for a conversation.

“We are in Moscow tonight,” said the former “Fox News” host in a video distributed on Monday. "We are here to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin."

In the four-minute video, Carlson explains the reasons for the conversation - and justifies himself. According to the right-wing moderator, it is his job to inform people. Most Americans don't know what's happening in Ukraine and Russia because no one tells them the truth and the media is corrupt.

Carlson was fired from Fox News last year without giving any reasons for his dismissal. He hosted a high-ratings evening show there for years. In it he spread conspiracy theories and false reports and agitated against minorities. Shortly thereafter, he started his own show on X (formerly Twitter).

The Kremlin has not yet confirmed the moderator's announcement and has not wanted to answer journalists' questions on the topic in recent days, according to the New York Times.
