As part of their follow-up to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and its regional repercussions, Israeli and international newspapers covered US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s tour of the region, the American attacks in the Middle East and their repercussions, in addition to shedding light on the reality of women in Gaza.

Yesterday, Monday, Blinken arrived in Saudi Arabia, the first stop of his fifth tour to the Middle East since Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” and the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip more than 4 months ago. His tour continues until Thursday, and also includes Qatar, Egypt, Israel, and the West Bank.

A report in the Washington Post said that this time in his trip to the Middle East, Blinken is carrying a complex message. Even as it targets “militias in Syria and Iraq” (according to the newspaper’s description), Washington ultimately seeks to stop the escalation against groups allied with Iran.

The report pointed out that American officials are aware of the relationship between the war in Gaza and attacks against American interests, and this explains Bleiken’s push towards accelerating a deal between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel, which may lead to a permanent ceasefire.

In the newspaper "The Independent", Bell Trew wrote that the attacks approved by US President Joe Biden in response to the killing of American soldiers risk escalating tensions in the Middle East, and portend the worst, and she warned that the move threatens a large-scale conflict in the region as long as the Gaza war rages. .

Harsh conditions

Meanwhile, writer Nisreen Malik published an article in The Guardian newspaper in which she discussed the harsh conditions that women in Gaza live in, in light of the absence of health care, hunger, and displacement.

The writer relied on international reports that counted tens of thousands of pregnant women who were forced to give birth without painkillers or anesthesia in the absence of the minimum hygiene conditions. She wondered how the West could ignore their suffering?

As for Foreign Affairs magazine, it published an article stating that Israel will not be able to resolve the situation in Gaza to its satisfaction, and it did not rule out that Gaza would turn into a quagmire from which it would be difficult for the Israeli army to emerge.

The article indicated that Hamas can adapt to its new reality by relying on the tunnel network and using the destroyed infrastructure and rubble hills to its advantage. It can also, along with other resistance factions in Gaza, begin deploying “suicide bombers” targeting Israeli soldiers.

While Haaretz newspaper wrote about the re-emergence of Hamas fighters in central and northern Gaza, referring to reports of renewed battles in Gaza City and areas in the north that the army had previously declared control of.

The newspaper says that it is an attempt by Hamas to assert its presence and control, pointing out that it is already causing harm to the army forces, by intensifying its attacks in the form of guerrilla warfare.
