China News Service, Zhengzhou, February 6 (Reporter Han Zhangyun) Before the arrival of this round of widespread rain and snow, Henan was on the hot search list because of a "completely black" precipitation distribution map. Henan is located at an important inland transportation hub, and the weather conditions during the Spring Festival travel period have attracted much attention. How heavy is this rain and snow? Has it exceeded the historical extreme value for the same period? On February 6, the Henan Provincial Meteorological Department released authoritative data.

Reporter 6 learned from the Henan Provincial Meteorological Bureau that due to the combined influence of the low trough and the southwest warm and humid air flow, persistent rain and snow weather occurred in Henan Province from 8:00 on January 31 to 6:00 on February 5. Most areas south of the Yellow River in the province Blizzards or severe blizzards occur in the area. How much precipitation is there? The largest in Xinyang City, southern Henan

According to the monitoring and analysis of the Henan Provincial Meteorological Observatory, this rain and snow weather process has a wide impact and a large amount of accumulated rain and snow. From 8:00 on January 31 to 6:00 on February 5, Henan experienced widespread rain and snow for five consecutive days. The top three places with the largest cumulative precipitation are all in Xinyang City in southern Henan, namely Shangcheng County 55.2 mm, Xin County 49.9 mm, and Huangchuan County 40.1 mm.

With this amount of precipitation, how much snowfall is there? How deep is the snow? Xu Wenming, chief forecaster of the Henan Meteorological Observatory, first introduced the relationship between snowfall amount and snow depth to reporters.

Xu Wenming introduced that snowfall amount and snow depth are two different concepts. Snowfall is the amount of snow collected by the rain gauge at the observatory. After it melts into water, the depth of the water is measured, measured in millimeters. Snow depth is the vertical depth from the snow surface to the ground, measured in centimeters. Generally speaking, the conversion relationship between snow depth and snowfall is affected by temperature and water vapor, and is roughly a 10:1 ratio.

The rain and snow have basically stopped and the temperature will slowly rise

The relevant person in charge of the Henan Provincial Meteorological Bureau said that the snowfall in Henan is conducive to increasing soil moisture and storing moisture, reducing the base of pests and diseases, allowing wheat to survive the winter safely, improving air quality, and reducing fire danger levels, but it has a negative impact on passenger travel, power supply, and warmth. It has adverse effects on ensuring supply and facility agriculture. In particular, the province is an important hub for inland transportation. The combination of extreme weather and Spring Festival travel brings great challenges to transportation and ensuring smooth traffic.

According to the Henan Provincial Meteorological Bureau, the widespread rain and snow that lasted for many days in the province has basically stopped. On February 6, the maximum temperature in the northern and central parts of the province rose to 3°C to 5°C, and the temperature in Henan Province slowly recovered. (over)
