Some Port-au-Prince residents woke up Monday morning to the sound of gunfire. Barricades and burning tires were erected on several roads in the Haitian capital. Schools kept their doors closed while businesses, banks and transport operated slowly.

On the road to Delmas, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, demonstrators with machetes were noticed while in front of the official residence of the Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, the sit-in planned by the EDE party of the former Prime Minister interim, Claude Joseph could not take place due to the intervention of the police. The protesters denounce the behavior of the police and do not intend to let go.

The whole country is controlled by gangs who are forcing people to leave their homes! Ariel is there and he does nothing,

protests a man.

When something happens in another country, Ariel is ready to tweet but here, people are dying. He does not say anything. We will stay in the streets because Ariel Henry must leave on February 7.
