France: suspect in knife attack at Gare de Lyon in Paris indicted

”, specifies the public prosecutor. 

On February 3, the 32-year-old man, born in Mali, set his backpack on fire in the Hall of the Gare de Lyon, in Paris. 

And had pursued a passerby, armed with a knife and a hammer. A person intervenes and is hit in the abdomen and head. His vital prognosis is still in jeopardy.

The accused was therefore presented this Tuesday, February 6, at the beginning of the afternoon, before an investigating judge who took up the case. After his hearing, he was indicted for attempted murder and armed violence, aggravated by the fact that the acts were committed against the victims because of their alleged race, ethnicity, nation or religion. 

And if the national anti-terrorist prosecutor's office is the only one able to decide whether it is a terrorist act or not. For the moment, he concluded that “ 

the criteria were not met to take action

 ”.
