Baltic diplomats were told that their states have a duty to take all appropriate measures to protect diplomatic missions, a requirement contained in the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

“Creating difficulties during elections will cause serious protest among Russian citizens living in these countries, since this violates their constitutional rights,” said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

In the event of sabotage, Russia will act decisively in a bilateral context and in international structures, the ministry emphasized.

Before this, the Russian Embassy in Finland asked the authorities to provide increased security during the presidential elections.
