September 8, 2021 marks the opening of the trial for the November 13 attacks with Salah Abdeslam in the dock. Me Olivia Ronen went to the Paris courthouse that day with her colleague, Me Martin Vettes. The press from all over the world is present. The newspapers speak of the “trial of the century”. For this hearing, a room was specially created inside the Palace of Justice. Olivia Ronen calls it “a huge box”. For good reason, more than 500 people were present that day. On one side are the victims of the attacks and their relatives, accompanied by their lawyers and psychologists. On the other, in a glass box, the accused are present. Olivia Ronen takes her seat. Behind these windows are eleven men, all accused of being linked to the attacks of November 13, 2015. And there is also Salah Abdeslam, the last surviving member of the commandos. When the president addresses Olivia Ronen's client for the first time, the terrorist's response causes shock in the room. For the lawyer, it's a cold shower. How to hide your feelings? How can we not let ourselves be destabilized by these words? Ms. Olivia knows how to bounce back but she will have to fight to make her client's voice heard. In this episode of the podcast "The Terrorist", Me Olivia Ronen recounts the first moments of the trial which will change her life on the microphone of Noémie Schulz, legal journalist, also present at the trial.

The podcast “The terrorist” is produced by Europe 1 Studio.

[On June 29, 2022, Salah Abdeslam was convicted by the Paris Special Assize Court for his participation in the terrorist attacks of November 13, 2015. He did not appeal. His sentence, irreducible life imprisonment, is final. This podcast is therefore not intended to repeat the trial. It's about telling it from a unique point of view, that of Salah Abdeslam's lawyer, Me. Olivia Ronen.]
