Intense battles continue on more than one axis in the Gaza Strip between the resistance factions and the Israeli occupation army forces, while sirens sounded in the northern Gaza Strip and other areas in the enclave.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that clashes with heavy machine guns occurred in the south of Gaza City and in separate areas of the city of Khan Yunis, and Israeli media also reported confirming the resumption of resistance fighting in northern Gaza.

The correspondent said that the Khan Yunis area in the southern Gaza Strip has been subjected to continuous shelling by Israeli artillery since dawn on Monday.

Resistance operations

In turn, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced its seizure of an Israeli reconnaissance plane that was on an intelligence mission west of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.

In a summary of the operations of the Al-Qassam Brigades during the past days, Al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Ubaida said that Al-Qassam fighters, in 17 different military missions, finished off 15 Israeli soldiers from scratch. They also sniped an officer and a soldier, and it was announced that dozens of soldiers were killed or wounded.

For its part, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, announced the targeting of Israeli soldiers with lightning-type shells and the bombing of a position of Israeli soldiers and vehicles with mortar shells in the Al-Taqaddum axis, southwest of Khan Yunis.

It said that it also bombed a position of occupation soldiers and vehicles in the area with mortar shells, and the brigades had broadcast images of missile salvos targeting military positions and crowds of the Israeli occupation forces east of the Central Governorate.

Fighting in the north and south

On the other hand, the Israeli occupation army said that its forces were engaged in extensive fighting during the last days in Khan Yunis, which it described as one of the strongholds of the Hamas movement.

The occupation army added that the Paratroopers Brigade carried out operations against Palestinian militants in the Al-Amal neighborhood in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip. The occupation army broadcast pictures that it said were of an aerial targeting of militants in the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, Israeli military, media and political sources said that reports have increased in recent days about renewed fighting in Gaza City and the northern regions of the Strip.

Haaretz newspaper quoted these sources as saying that this is an indication that Hamas and the rest of the Palestinian resistance factions have renewed their ability to move in these areas and engage in fighting.

Haaretz quoted citizens in Gaza as saying that people in civilian clothes and armed with RPG rifles were attacking the army and shooting at it.

She added that Hamas is trying to escalate the fighting in these areas, which Israel claims to have tightened control over, with the aim of Hamas demonstrating its organizational and operational capabilities and in order to reduce Israeli military pressure on the southern Gaza Strip.

Gaza cover

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that sirens were sounding in Yad Mordechai in the northern Gaza Strip and other areas in the enclave.

Israeli Channel 12 said that sirens sounded in the Yad Mordechai settlement, without reports of human or material injuries, and the Israeli army did not issue any official comment on the reasons for sounding the sirens.

The Israeli channel published a video clip that it said was of parts of a missile launched from Gaza near the Yad Mordechai kibbutz, north of the Gaza Strip. The channel reported that the missile did not cause any human or material damage.

Sirens sound repeatedly in a number of Israeli settlements and cities, as Palestinian resistance factions respond to raids and attacks by Tel Aviv on the Gaza Strip by launching missile salvos towards a number of Israeli areas.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the mayors of the Israeli settlements located within 7 kilometers of the border with the Gaza Strip called on the Israeli government to keep them outside this range until the first of next July and not at the beginning of March as the government requests.

The authority said that these demands came during tense discussions that lasted 4 hours with the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Finance, but they did not lead to any results.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which, as of Sunday, left 27,365 martyrs and 66,630 injured, most of them children and women, according to the Palestinian authorities, and caused massive destruction and an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, according to the United Nations. .
