The souvenir shop seller contacted the police, saying that before the train departed, a man approached her and asked if she needed a dog. Having received a negative answer, he handed the woman a leash and left.

Law enforcement officers took the pet to the department, identified the owner and handed the dog over to the man’s relatives.

“The owner himself explained his action by saying that he would not have been allowed into the carriage with the animal, and he had no doubt that relatives would come to pick up the dog,” the report says.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered to open a criminal case into an attack by a pack of stray dogs on a child in Komi.
