“After discovering the failure, specialists from the Internet Technical Center (TCI) and MSK-IX revoked the erroneous encryption keys, corrected the problem and transferred the correct data to the root registry. Despite the evening time, work began immediately after the problem was discovered, and thanks to the coordinated actions of specialists, it was possible to quickly restore the functionality of the .RU zone,” explained RT’s interlocutor.

According to him, it took less than 2.5 hours to fix the problem and update the domain zone description in the root registry.

“TCI specialists will be able to tell you more about the causes of the failure and the work to eliminate it after completing the internal audit,” Vorobyov concluded.

Earlier, the Coordination Center for .RU/.РФ domains reported that the main reason for the failure of the Runet that occurred on January 31 was the imperfection of DNSSEC software.

It also became known that the Russian Ministry of Digital Development is conducting an investigation into the failure of the .RU domain zone.
