Mr. Akira Ogawa, who was elected for the first time in the Maebashi mayoral election, was presented with his certificate of election and expressed his aspirations, saying, ``I feel the weight of responsibility once again.I want to get off to a solid start together with everyone.''

In the Maebashi mayoral election held on the 4th, Mr. Ogawa, an independent newcomer supported by members of the opposition parties including the Constitutional Democratic Party, won his first election, defeating the incumbent Ryu Yamamoto, who was recommended by the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito.

On the 5th, after a night of victory, Mr. Ogawa visited Maebashi City Hall and received his certificate of election from Nobumasa Kuriki, chairman of the City Elections Commission.

Mr. Ogawa said in interviews with media outlets, ``So many people voted for me, and I feel a renewed sense of responsibility.I want to work with everyone to get off to a solid start.''

Regarding the fact that more than 70% of the city council members supported Mr. Yamamoto in this election, he commented on how he should deal with the city council, saying, ``It was said that we have a lot of similarities in terms of policy, so I would like to quarrel with the city council.'' I don't think that will happen.I think it's important for everyone to watch the discussion process, whether you agree or disagree, and move forward.''
