Houthis: It is not easy to destroy our military capabilities (Anatolia)

The spokesman for the Ansar Allah group (Houthi), Muhammad Abdel Salam, said in a statement, “The continuation of the American-British aggression against our country will not achieve any goal for the aggressors, but rather increases their dilemmas and problems at the regional level, and Yemen’s decision to support Gaza is firm and principled and will not be affected by any attack.”

The US Central Command said at dawn on Sunday that US forces and the British Armed Forces, with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands and New Zealand, carried out strikes against 36 Houthi targets, in 13 areas under the group’s control in Yemen.

Abdul Salam stressed that Yemeni military capabilities "are not easy to destroy and have been rebuilt in light of harsh years of war." In the same context, the Houthis pledged to respond to the American and British bombing of several sites in Yemen.

Escalation by escalation

In a related context, the military spokesman for the group, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, stated that these attacks will not dissuade the Houthis from their “moral and religious position” in support of the Palestinian people, and that these attacks “will not pass without response and punishment,” which was confirmed by a member of the movement’s political council, Muhammad Al-Bukhaiti, in a post on X. .

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the US bombing aims to "disable and weaken" the Houthis' capabilities to launch their "reckless and destabilizing" attacks, as he described it.

According to Saree, America and Britain launched 48 raids on 6 governorates, including 13 on the capital, Sanaa, and its environs, and 9 in the coastal governorate of Hodeidah, without mentioning whether the raids caused casualties.

The Houthi Al-Masirah satellite channel reported that "the US-British aggression aircraft targeted communications networks in Taiz Governorate."

She added, "These raids focused on the Al-Barah area in Maqbanah District, and areas in Haifan District."

The channel did not provide details about the extent of the damage resulting from this bombing, which is the first of its kind targeting communications networks since the start of the American-British raids.

Presidential Council

On the other hand, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, Rashad Al-Alimi, discussed with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf, the repercussions of the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.

Saba Agency said that the discussions that took place in Riyadh focused on "the repercussions of the Houthi militia attacks against international shipping lines in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden" and the impact on the "living conditions" of the Yemeni people.

Al-Alimi warned of "the dangers of the continued flow of Iranian weapons and smuggled funds to the Houthi militias...to international peace and security."

In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a devastating Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023, with unlimited American support, the Houthis are targeting, with missiles and drones, cargo ships in the Red Sea that are owned or operated by Israeli companies, or that transport goods to and from Israel.

With the intervention of Washington and London and the tensions taking a noticeable escalation last January, the Houthi group announced that it now considered all American and British ships among its military targets.

At an intermittent pace since last January 12, a US-led coalition has been launching raids that it says target “Houthi sites” in various regions of Yemen, in response to its attacks in the Red Sea, which was met with a response from the group from time to time.
