China News Service, Hong Kong, February 4 (Reporter Han Xingtong) The Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) held the "ICAC 50th Anniversary Run" on the waterfront lawn of the West Kowloon Cultural District on the 4th to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ICAC's establishment. It means that the ICAC will not stop adhering to its anti-corruption mission and will pass on its anti-corruption mission to the next generation.
It is reported that the "ICAC 50th Anniversary Integrity Run" is one of the key projects in the ICAC's series of "anti-corruption? Keep going" community participation activities. The "Chuan Cheng Run" consists of a 5-kilometer running competition and a 1-kilometer parent-child run, attracting a total of about 1,000 citizens from different sectors and ages to participate.
On that day, the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Chan Kwok-kee, the Commissioner for Integrity Wu Ying-ming, the Commissioner of Police Siu Chak-yi, actor Donnie Yen and others officiated and fired the gun at the "Run for Integrity" event. Before starting, the officiating guests handed over symbols representing the core values of the ICAC staff to young people and children, symbolizing the inheritance of the anti-corruption mission to the next generation.
In his speech, Mr. Chan Kwok-kee praised the ICAC's anti-corruption work, which has received high international acclaim. Since the 1970s, it has adopted a three-pronged approach to combat corruption through law enforcement, prevention and education, and has won the support and trust of the general public, building Hong Kong into a global One of the cleanest cities. He firmly believes that with half a century of rich experience, the ICAC will be able to build on the past and open up the future, eliminate corruption and promote integrity, and contribute to the steady and long-term implementation of "one country, two systems".
Wu Yingming said that the ICAC chose "Anti-corruption, never stop" as the theme of the 50th anniversary event, hoping to remind ICAC staff and let the public know that Hong Kong's clean society is hard-won, and the ICAC's anti-corruption pace will never be achieved. He said that in conjunction with the soon-to-be-established "Hong Kong International Integrity Academy", the ICAC will elevate its anti-corruption work to another level and move towards a new milestone.
