China News Service, San Francisco, February 2 (Reporter Liu Guanguan) The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on the 2nd local time that the brake, parking and anti-lock brake warning lights on the instrument panel did not comply with the regulations. U.S. electric car maker Tesla is recalling nearly 2.2 million vehicles in the country.

Documents released by NHTSA on the 2nd showed that the reason for this recall is that the font size of the brake, parking and anti-lock brake warning lights on the vehicle dashboard is smaller than required by federal safety standards. This can make important safety information difficult to detect by drivers, increasing the risk of a collision.

This recall will be completed through an online software update and involves the 2012 to 2023 Model S, the 2016 to 2023 Model X, the 2017 to 2023 Model 3, the 2019 to 2024 Model Y, and the 2024 Cybertruck.

NHTSA discovered the problem during a routine safety compliance review on January 8, the document said. Tesla confirmed three warranty claims that may be related to the issue, but there were no reports of crashes or injuries.

In addition, documents released by NHTSA on the 1st showed that the U.S. government’s investigation into Tesla’s steering problem has been upgraded to an engineering analysis. The problem may affect nearly 335,000 vehicles.

In December 2023, NHTSA stated that Tesla would recall more than 2.03 million electric vehicles in the United States due to safety hazards in the autonomous driving system. (over)
