A Ukrainian bombing that hit a bakery in the occupied eastern city of Lysychansk left at least eight dead and ten injured, Russian occupation authorities said

“According to current data, the result of the bombing of a bakery in Lysychansk is eight dead and ten injured with varying degrees of severity,” Natalia Pashchenko, Minister of Health of the Luhansk region authorities, said on Telegram , installed by Moscow.

She added that rescuers had already spotted 10 people under the rubble. “There are dead people among them too,” according to Natalia Pashchenko.

Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry earlier said rescue operations were continuing.

Leonid Pasechnik, the Russian-installed governor of Luhansk, accused Kiev forces of targeting the bakery, which he said is known for having fresh bread on weekends.

RIA Novosti published a video of a destroyed building, where we also see rescuers removing a completely crushed car from the rubble.

The one-story building bore a large sign with the name “Restaurant Adriatic” and appeared completely destroyed.

Lysychansk had a population of some 111,000 people before the Russian offensive in Ukraine.

Russian forces took control of it in the summer of 2022, as did its twin city of Severodonetsk, after one of the most brutal battles since the start of its offensive in February 2022.
