Senegalese Ousmane Sonko helps his lawyer Guy-Hervé Kam, who disappeared in Burkina

Eight days after the arrest and disappearance of master Guy-Hervé Kam in Burkina Faso, the Senegalese opponent Ousmane Sonko asks the president of the transition Ibrahim Traoré for his release as well as that of all Burkinabè recently arrested: political leaders, unions or representatives of civil society. An unexpected request which will perhaps pay off for the release of the lawyer, leader of the Sens party and ex-founder of Citizen Balai.

It's the story of an inmate who comes to the aid of another inmate. Ousmane Sonko, from his cell in Cap Manuel in Senegal, addresses the President of the Burkinabe Transition Ibrahim Traoré in a letter and on his Facebook page. To “

Mr. President

” or to the one he also calls “

dear Brother

”, the leader of Pastef addresses “

modest and friendly suggestions

”.

One of them and to deploy all means to find and free his “

brothers, friend and lawyer

” Guy-Hervé Kam as well as all those who have been kidnapped in recent months in Burkina Faso for no apparent reason. Guy-Hervé Kam notably advised the leader of the Senegalese opposition in his trial for defamation against the Minister of Tourism last March. Beyond this request for release, Ousmane Sonko invites the Burkinabè president to identify

the authors of the unworthy practices of arbitrary arrest and to put an end to these practices which he describes as “

unworthy of Burkina

”.

Guy-Hervé Kam's relatives and defenders welcome this position.

This arrest followed by the detention of Guy-Hervé Kam took place without a legal framework. That is to say that the Faso prosecutor is not aware, the military justice system is not aware and we have drawn attention to this without being heard. So I am happy that Mr. Sonko is drawing the president's attention to these excesses. I hope he will hear these calls because it is not good for him, for our country, for the transition, for Africa.
