At the start of the week, despite Gabriel Attal's announcements in Haute-Garonne on January 26, farmers' discontent took on a new dimension. The demonstrators announced that they were heading towards the capital and in particular the Rungis market. Present in one of the convoys heading to Bergerac, Nicolas, a goat breeder, explained to Europe 1 why he is mobilizing and leaving the task of looking after his 150 goats to his wife alone. “We want prices, we want to work and earn our living with what we sell,” he demands at Pascal Praud’s microphone.

"We are in competition, we are experiencing fiscal, social and environmental dumping that is not easy to curb. The issue is food sovereignty. We have had deindustrialization, and we fear 'deagriculturization'", he warns .

Wednesday: “1.3 million euros” in turnover, and yet this dairy producer does not earn more than 18,000 euros per year

In their protest movement, farmers denounce in particular their remuneration. For the occasion, the spokesperson for the FNSEA, Yohann Barbe, shares this demand in the show

. This milk producer in the Vosges explains that, despite a significant turnover, income remains insufficient. “We have a turnover of 1.3 million euros because we do a little mixed farming and breeding. But there is no more than 18,000 euros per person per year,” laments the trade unionist.

Thursday: “In France, it is better to be a delinquent than a farmer,” says a breeder placed in custody after the intrusion in Rungis

Wednesday evening, several dozen farmers were arrested and taken into police custody after entering the Rungis market. The following Thursday, Nicolas, a goat breeder, was the guest on the show. At Pascal Praud's microphone, he recounted his arrest as well as his night in cell. And, according to him, the relationship between police and demonstrators was not conflictual, on the contrary. This farmer even claims to have had a good night's sleep. "I would have stayed in Rungis, I would have slept outside, in my van in the cold. There, I was warm.
