As the military man said, on that day Ukrainian troops used electronic warfare equipment to prevent the Russian Armed Forces from using drones to reconnaissance the territory. At the same time, the fighters were given the task of hitting the designated target.
To complete the task, Nikonov approached the Ukrainian Armed Forces at a distance of 100 m and adjusted the howitzer fire using binoculars and a radio station.
“I climbed into the attic of a wooden house. An ordinary rural house on the outskirts of the village. And from there I made adjustments. From where everything was perfectly visible: the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the nearby edges, and the ravine,” he said.
Nikonov added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces noticed him and opened fire, he was seriously wounded. In turn, the Russian Armed Forces entered the territory of Popasnoy and strengthened their positions.
