Thousands of people demonstrated today, Saturday, in Britain, France, Germany, and other European countries, to demand an end to the "crimes of genocide" committed by Israel against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In the British capital, London, a massive demonstration took place under the slogan “Stop the genocide in Gaza” as part of what was called the National March for Palestine.

The demonstrators roam the streets all the way to the government headquarters, where the major demonstration is being held, organized by several human rights associations, including the “Palestine Solidarity Committee” and the “Stop the War” coalition.

Activists broadcast video clips of the march on social media, and the participants demanded an immediate ceasefire and denounced what they called the crime committed by Israel in the context of its ongoing war on Gaza for about 4 months.

Organizers have criticized the Metropolitan Police for what they say are attempts to intimidate and harass demonstrators.

Demonstrations were also held in the German capital, Berlin, called by Palestinian and German organizations and associations under the slogan “Freedom for Palestine.” Speakers in the demonstration called on the German government to take action to stop what they called the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza.

Simultaneously, demonstrations took place in Frankfurt and Saarbrücken to demand an end to the war on Gaza.

In France, a demonstration took place in Paris demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and the participants denounced the position of the French government and Western governments, which they said was complicit with Israel.

The demonstrators chanted slogans stressing the necessity of liberating the occupied territories, establishing an independent Palestinian state, and achieving justice by holding accountable those involved in crimes committed against the Palestinian people. They also called for preventing the obstruction of any effort to hold Israel accountable for the crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity that they said the Israeli army is committing against the Palestinians.

A pro-Palestinian demonstration also took place in Geneva, Switzerland, and the demonstrators called for protecting the Palestinian people from the crimes of the occupation, an immediate cessation of the aggression against Gaza, and holding the occupation accountable for the attacks it committed against civilians in the besieged Strip.

A demonstration took place in the Italian city of Milan in support of the Palestinians in Gaza, and the demonstrators raised banners calling for stopping the Israeli war, holding the occupation accountable for its crimes, lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip, and delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinians there.

Denmark and Sweden

In this context, the European Palestinian Information Center published scenes of a demonstration in support of Gaza in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, and the demonstrators raised Palestinian flags, demanding an immediate ceasefire.

The center also broadcast live scenes of a demonstration in the city of Uppsala, southeastern Sweden, and the demonstrators demanded a boycott of Israel and an end to the war on the Gaza Strip.

A massive march also took place in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, to demand an end to the "genocidal war" in the Gaza Strip.

New York and Washington

Outside Europe, students and movements supporting Palestine yesterday organized massive demonstrations in New York, United States, to support Palestine, denounce American support for Israel, and denounce the harassment of pro-Gaza students on the campuses of Barnard and Columbia universities.

Thousands marched to Columbia University to reject the university's bias towards Israeli students who attacked activists supporting stopping the war and ending the occupation in the Palestinian territories.

In parallel, the New York Police cordoned off the two university buildings and warned against protest participants entering Barnard University, while dealing violently with them on the doorsteps of Columbia University.

In Washington, yesterday, protesters closed the five entrances to the American capital to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and to denounce Western countries’ cutting of funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
