This Saturday morning, three people were injured, including one seriously, after a knife and hammer attack at Lyon station in Paris. The attacker, a man of Malian origin with Italian papers, therefore legally present on French territory, was quickly arrested. According to the first elements of the investigation, the terrorist nature of the act is not accepted at this stage, and the 32-year-old man suffers from “psychiatric disorders”. Quickly, several political figures reacted. The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, immediately thanked “those who controlled the author of this unbearable act”.

Messages of support then multiplied, such as Eric Ciotti, the leader of the Republicans, who wished "support and speedy recovery to the three people attacked by a man armed with a knife and a hammer this morning at the Gare de Lyon". For her part, the LR president of the Île-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, "waits for all light to be shed on the circumstances of this tragedy".
