Leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Osama Hamdan, said that the movement had received a general framework for a possible deal with Israel, stressing that its decision is contingent on reaching an end to the aggression, withdrawing the occupation forces, lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip, and guaranteeing the right of the Palestinians to self-determination and establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Hamdan confirmed - in a press conference from Beirut - that the movement is open to everything that would stop the aggression and provide relief to the residents of the Gaza Strip, while the government of Benjamin Netanyahu continues to obstruct all initiatives.

He explained that the movement is examining the general framework that was discussed at the Paris meeting, and that it is focusing on bringing the negotiations to a complete end to the aggression, withdrawing the occupation forces out of the Gaza Strip, lifting the siege on it completely, providing shelter for the displaced, reconstruction, completing a serious prisoner exchange deal, and recognizing the world’s right to Palestinians to self-determination and establish a fully sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Hamdan praised the efforts of Egypt and Qatar aimed at stopping the aggression against the Gaza Strip, stressing that Hamas “will be where the interest of the people is.” He said that the priority is to alleviate the suffering of the residents of the Gaza Strip and protect the Palestinians in the West Bank, as well as protecting the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the holy sites, and the Palestinians’ right to return and independence.

He said that the movement is in constant communication and consultation with all factions of the Palestinian forces, especially our field partners and comrades in arms, adding, "We commend all national positions that expressed unity and support for the resistance."

There are no disagreements between Hamas leaders

Hamdan warned of the danger of dealing with news and reports published by what he described as “hostile parties” regarding the truce in order to influence the stability of the residents of the Gaza Strip, stressing that “the only source of any development in the negotiations is what comes from the resistance only.”

He denied the existence of discrepancies among Hamas leaders, stressing that the decisions in the movement’s leadership are institutional, and that all leaders contribute to decision-making, including those in the field, whom he said are “partners in all the decisions that have been issued and will be issued regarding the ideas presented.”

Hamdan stressed that “there is no deal yet, but rather a general framework without details,” and said that the movement “will announce its final position based on the interest of the Palestinian people,” and that Netanyahu must “give in to the demands of the resistance.”

He said that the top priority currently is to unite in order to provide relief to the residents of the Gaza Strip and stop the aggression, and he addressed “governments and people of good conscience to put pressure on the occupation and the United States to provide medical and food aid.”

Hamdan added, "We specifically invite Arab and Muslim leaders, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States, and we call on them to form official delegations to break the siege in accordance with the decisions they have taken."

He concluded that it is not possible to talk about timings for the potential deal before there is Israeli agreement to the conditions of resistance.
