According to the newspaper, the United States has been keeping six F-35A Lightning II fighter jets in the hangar for six years, paid for by Turkey, and they are said to undergo monthly maintenance.

“The United States is demanding Turkey pay for the hangar and the costs of maintaining and maintaining the fighter jets,” the article says.

At the same time, according to the publication, Ankara demands that Washington return the $1.4 billion paid for the project, as well as compensate for the damage caused to the investments of Turkish companies, or continue the purchase of components.

Earlier, Chairman of the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee Ben Cardin approved the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey after Ankara's decision to ratify Sweden's accession to NATO.

Later, White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said that Turkey's supply of F-35s is incompatible with its presence of Russian air defense systems.
