This Saturday, while the farmers' movement seems to be fading after Gabriel Attal's announcements, the Confédération paysanne carried out a striking action in a hypermarket in Villeneuve d'Ascq, near Lille. On site, the shelves were emptied and shopping carts were filled with honey, salads, canned goods and lentils.

Even if the blockages are lifted and farmers return home, there are still diehards, dissatisfied with the announcements of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal. The Peasant Confederation led an action this Saturday afternoon in a hypermarket in Villeneuve d'Ascq, near Lille. The activists emptied the shelves during rush hour.

“Without promised income, compromised transition”

A major operation and around a hundred farmers mobilized in this hypermarket. “Without promised income, compromised transition”, we can see on some posters. On site, the shelves have been emptied and shopping carts are filled with honey, salads, canned goods or lentils. "We are symbolically removing certain products from the shelves. Green beans that come from Kenya and Madagascar. This production has nothing to do here. Madagascar is a country in food insecurity. And we import products from Madagascar, because it costs less and the company that sells it will be able to make more margin. We find it shameful,” laments Jonas, a market gardener and member of the Confédération paysanne.

Unfair competition for these farmers. “We want minimum entry prices,” he adds. Furthermore, the measures unveiled by the Prime Minister are not enough, deplores Antoine, a cattle breeder. “Our demand was peasant income. In fact, the announcements made will in no way improve the income of peasants and even less that of the small farmers that we represent in the Peasant Confederation. -to say that tax advantages on diesel and the decline in environmental standards, that's not it. It's a bad fight in fact", he underlines at the microphone of Europe 1. This punch operation lasted about an hour in this hypermarket. Subsequently, the farmers left peacefully and are now considering further action.
