She recalled that so far the decision of the Hague Court is limited to the procedural issue of whether it has jurisdiction.

“However, already at this preliminary stage, the case concocted by Ukraine fell apart: all Ukrainian statements that Russia allegedly violated the Convention, “abusing” it to justify the start of the SVO, were completely rejected by the court,” the diplomat emphasized.

According to Zakharova, the only question left before the court is whether Ukraine committed genocide in the Donbass. She noted that in this way Kyiv put itself in the dock as part of its own claims.

“We can only applaud the Kyiv “craftsmen” and their Western patrons: they “shot themselves in the foot,” the diplomat concluded.

Previously, the International Court of Justice ruled that it has jurisdiction to hear Ukraine's 2022 claim against Russia over the start of the SVO.

At the same time, no decisions of the ICC have any significance for Russia, including from a legal point of view. The Kremlin also said that Moscow does not recognize the decision of the International Criminal Court.

In May, the Investigative Committee of Russia brought charges in absentia against the prosecutor and the judge of the International Criminal Court, who made illegal decisions to arrest the Russian president and the ombudsman for children's rights.
