The reporter learned from the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology on February 2 that the latest archaeological confirmation showed that Yangjiacheng, a famous patriotic group in the Northern Song Dynasty known as the "Yang Family Generals", was said to have been stationed in Linzhou City during the Tang and Song Dynasties. An important barrier against Liaoxia.

The site of Yangjiacheng City is located in the Loess Liangmao area northwest of Yangcheng Village, Dianta Town, Shenmu City. It is said that the famous patriotic group "Yangjiacheng" during the Northern Song Dynasty once stationed here, so it is commonly known as "Yangjiacheng". According to previous research based on geographical location and chronology, the city should be Linzhou City in the Tang and Song Dynasties. Therefore, when the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units was announced, it was named "Linzhou Ancient City".

This archaeological work newly discovered a "North City" with a clear direction of the city wall. Most of the relics found in the city are from the Song and Jin Dynasties, which should be roughly the same period as the discovered East City, Inner City and West City. Therefore, it is currently known that Yangjiacheng consists of four relatively independent but interconnected small cities: Dongcheng, Inner City, Xicheng and Beicheng, with an area of about 700,000 square meters. The four city walls must not have been integrated into one body. Among them, the relationship between the east city wall and the eastward expansion of the inner city wall has been confirmed by archeology.

In addition to well-preserved remains, this excavation also unearthed a large number of relics, including porcelain, pottery, stone tools, building components and coins. The characteristics of the Tang and Song Dynasties displayed by the ceramics are relatively typical, especially the year number on the coins and the dating of the epitaph in Luzeyuan are no later than the Northern Song Dynasty. In addition, the tall and thick city walls, multiple city wall fortifications, large number of weapons, and the unearthed bricks and tiles with "official" characters and the epitaph of Zeyuan indicate that Yangjiacheng was an important official city site in the Tang and Song Dynasties, with a particularly prominent military nature. Combined with the research on geography, documents and related written relics, Yangjiacheng should be Linzhou City in the Tang and Song Dynasties. It was an important barrier for the Northern Song Dynasty to control the northwest and resist the Liao and Xia Dynasties.

According to current discoveries, the south gate of the inner city was probably destroyed by war in the late Northern Song Dynasty. This may also be an important reason for the abandonment of the entire Yangjia City. The buildings in the urn at the south gate of the inner city may have been a collective dining place for the city defenders and a place where military rations were processed and produced.
