According to the Malaysian Immigration Bureau, at around 9:50 pm local time on the 1st, there was a riot at an immigration detention facility in Perak state in northern Malaysia, and 131 people escaped.

Of those who escaped, 115 were members of Myanmar's Muslim minority Rohingya.

One person was hit and killed by a car while fleeing, and police are tracking the whereabouts of those who fled and investigating the details of the situation.

In Malaysia, more than 500 Rohingya escaped from another facility this year.

After a large-scale clearance operation by Myanmar's military in 2017, many of the Rohingya fled to neighboring Bangladesh, but there have also been cases of them attempting to illegally enter Muslim-majority Malaysia and Indonesia by boat. I will never stop.
