In November 2023, several journalists and a member of the administrative team of the investigative online media Abzas, specializing in human rights in Azerbaijan, were arrested by the country's authorities. A few days later, the international consortium of investigative journalists Forbidden Stories announced that it was continuing the work of the Abzas media.

Alongside a consortium of French and international media, RFI and France 24 are continuing the investigations of imprisoned journalists into corruption within the Azerbaijani authorities. They are published by around ten partner media.
