Smoke rising from the village of Matula in the Galilee finger after it was targeted by bombing from Lebanon (French)

A spokesman for the municipality of Kiryat Shmona in the Upper Galilee, near the Lebanese border, said that 4 rockets fell in open areas in the town, without any injuries or damage recorded.

On the other hand, Al Jazeera's correspondent said, a short while ago, that 3 Israeli air strikes bombed the vicinity of the towns of Aitaroun and Zibqin in southern Lebanon, and confirmed that heavy flights of Israeli warplanes were monitored in conjunction with the sound of explosions near the Lebanese border.

The Lebanese News Agency reported that Israeli reconnaissance aircraft continued to fly over the villages of the western and central sectors, all the way to the Litani River, throughout last night and until Friday morning, amid the firing of flares over the border villages adjacent to the Blue Line.

Yesterday evening, Thursday, the occupation forces raided the triangle of the towns of Tair Harfa, Shihin, and Al-Jabain, and also raided the town of Al-Dhahira 3 times in a row, resulting in severe damage to property. The occupation artillery targeted the outskirts of the towns of Naqoura, Yarin and Al-Jebin with shells.

The Israeli army escalated the intensity of aerial and artillery bombardment on towns and villages in southern Lebanon, resulting in deaths and injuries among civilians, and forced hundreds of families to flee their homes, in conjunction with the war that Israel has been waging in the Gaza Strip since last October 7.

Mutual bombing

Yesterday, Thursday, an Al Jazeera correspondent confirmed that two missiles were fired from southern Lebanon towards an Israeli site in the Metulla settlement on the Galilee border, noting that sirens sounded in the area.

The reporter added that Israeli artillery bombed the outskirts of the town of Khiam, in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon.

During the past 24 hours, Israeli warplanes bombed the vicinity of the Lebanese towns of Kafr Shuba and Al-Jabban. Hezbollah also announced yesterday that it carried out 4 operations against Israeli sites, noting that it bombed the sites of Al-Summaqa and Al-Ramtha in the occupied Shebaa Farms and Kfar Shuba Hills, and targeted the spy devices at the Israeli radar site.

The party also said that its fighters bombed with missiles a gathering of Israeli soldiers near the Zarit barracks.

In the same context, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that more than 500 homes and buildings in the Upper Galilee have been damaged by Hezbollah fire since the outbreak of the war.

The newspaper indicated that the towns of Metulla, Shalomi, and Manara were the most damaged and exposed to Hezbollah strikes. The newspaper also pointed out a steady increase in the party’s use of heavy “Burkan” and “Falaq 1” missiles.

The newspaper quoted the head of the Shlomi Town Council as saying that the fall of Burkan rockets on the town has become more frequent, and that it has become in real danger.

Peaceful solution

On the political level, Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that Lebanon supports a peaceful solution in the region.

He explained during his meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Cameron in Beirut, yesterday, Thursday, that he discussed with his guest ways to establish calm in southern Lebanon and the required political and diplomatic solution.

Mikati stressed the implementation of international resolutions, especially Resolution 1701, and the continuation of cooperation between the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL.

For his part, Cameron stressed the priority of a ceasefire in Gaza in preparation for moving to the next stages of the solution, according to a statement from Mikati’s media office.

The southern border of Lebanon is witnessing a noticeable escalation in confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel, which has escalated its military operations, while the party has responded by raising the level of weapons it was using previously.
