A gas explosion occurred in Kenya, East Africa, late on the 1st, killing two people and sending more than 200 people to the hospital.

According to a Kenyan government spokesperson, a truck loaded with gas exploded in the capital Nairobi around 11:30 pm on the 1st, and fire spread to the surrounding area.



According to the spokesperson, the fire spread to surrounding businesses, commercial facilities, and residences, and as the fire occurred late at night, many residents were at home and were engulfed by the fire.



The spokesperson said that two people died at the hospital they were transported to, and 222 others are receiving treatment at hospitals.



Footage distributed by the Associated Press shows flames raging in the darkness and occasional explosions.

A female resident said, ``When I went outside, the roof was on fire, and it was a huge fire.I saw mothers and children running around, girls and boys bleeding, and it was really scary.''
