In addition to the two weeks planned from Sunday February 11 to Sunday February 25 inclusive, line 14 of the Paris metro will be closed an additional fifteen days before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. During this closure, final tests will be carried out before the opening of the extension of the line planned for June.

Line 14 of the Paris metro will be closed two additional weeks before the Paris Olympic Games, in addition to the two weeks planned from Sunday February 11 to Sunday February 25 inclusive, RATP announced on Friday. RATP specified that line 14 will be closed from Sunday April 7 to Sunday April 14 inclusive and from Wednesday May 8 to Sunday May 12 inclusive, to carry out final tests before the opening of the extension of the line for June, without specific date at this stage.

Alternative transport

These closures - which are in addition to those already planned during the February school holidays, during the weekends in March and on Monday April 1 - aim to carry out "tests of the new automatic pilot system in a real situation", explained Stéphane Garreau, director of the extension of line 14 at RATP, during a press conference in Paris. Concerning the two weeks of closure in February, the RATP announced the implementation of alternative transport, in particular special buses linking the Gare de Lyon station to the Olympiades station every 3 to 6 minutes during rush hour and a strengthening of the train offer on line 13 and on the RER B.

During this closure, RATP warns that "line 13 will experience increased traffic despite increased transport offerings" and invites users to "use the alternative transport put in place for the occasion". Automatic line 14, which serves three Parisian stations (Bercy, Gare de Lyon and Saint-Lazare), is extended by 14 km to be able to connect Orly airport by the 2024 Olympic Games which begin on July 26 (south of Paris) to Saint-Denis (north), where many events take place.
