Burkina Faso: a new president for the Higher Council of Communication
In Burkina Faso, the Superior Communication Council (CSC), responsible for monitoring the content of the media and social networks, now has a new president. It is the communications consultant Idrissa Ouédraogo, who was chosen by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Wednesday January 31, to head the regulatory body of the Burkinabè media. For the new president, the major challenge will be to determine the professional territories of communication, build them, protect them and make them efficient.

Analyst of political communication, and known for defending the positions of the transitional government in the media, Idrissa Ouédraogo was installed yesterday at the head of the Higher Council of Communication (CSC). The new president says he is aware of the immense projects to be covered and built.
“
It is the events on the ground which will dictate the course of action to be taken
” he emphasizes, but he adds that it is essential “
to be more honest with events and to be as effective as possible
”.
“
Heavy
” responsibility
During the “handover”, outgoing President Abdoulazize Bamogo specified that the responsibility of his successor at the CSC is “
heavy
”, in the face of the “
serious security crisis
” and the “
dangerous proliferation
” of false information, speeches by hatred, calls for violence, which weaken the social fabric
of Burkina Faso
and make the fight against terrorism difficult.
He advised Idrissa Ouédraogo to take a “
step back to appropriate the cardinal values of justice, impartiality, independence, listening and dialogue as part of its mission to regulate the media and social networks
” .
