AfD voters are significantly less willing to donate than those of other parties. This is suggested by a survey of more than 5,000 participants that the German Fundraising Association had carried out at the end of last year.

According to this, 36 percent of AfD voters said they had donated to charitable causes in the past twelve months - party donations were not recorded. For the Left it was 48 percent, with the Green Party supporters at the top with 61 percent. Only non-voters (26 percent) voted less often than those in the AfD.

Overall willingness to donate is decreasing

When it came to the average annual donation amount, AfD voters were only ahead of non-voters with 118 euros, at 103 euros. The Green Party supporters were the most generous with an average of 197 euros, closely followed by the FDP supporters with one euro less.

The German Donation Monitor 2023, which is published by the association, shows that the population's willingness to donate has decreased significantly compared to the previous year. According to an association forecast from November, the amount of donations fell by half a billion to 5.8 billion euros, and the number of donors fell by around five percentage points to 48.6 percent.
