In its defensive battle against the Russian Navy, Ukraine claims to have achieved another success in the Black Sea. On Thursday night, the missile-equipped corvette “Ivanovets” was sunk by several sea drones, Ukrainian military intelligence said.
Ukraine has been fending off a Russian invasion with Western help for almost two years. The Ukrainian military has already sunk or at least seriously damaged Russian warships with missiles and maritime drones on several occasions. The Russian Black Sea Fleet was largely pushed out of the western part of the Black Sea.
This week's attack took place on the west coast of the Crimean peninsula, which has been annexed by Russia since 2014. As evidence, a video was shown in which several sea drones loaded with explosives approached the Russian warship one after the other and exploded. The ship listed and ultimately sank. There has so far been no confirmation of this incident from the Russian side.
