“The panel of judges... taking into account additionally established mitigating circumstances... commuted Calvey’s sentence of imprisonment by 2 months to 4 years 4 months suspended,” RIA Novosti was told in court.

It was previously reported that Calvey left Russia before the verdict came into force.

In June 2023, the Moscow City Court commuted the suspended sentence of investor Calvi from 5.5 to 4.5 years.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case, in which Calvi became a defendant, on February 13, 2019. The investigation took the view that Calvey organized a scheme as a result of which a loan of 2.5 billion rubles received by the First Collection Bureau company from Vostochny Bank in 2015 was offset by the assignment of shares.

In addition, according to the investigation, Calvey misled the board of directors of the bank on the issue of the value of shares of the First Collection Bureau. The IC believes that the shares were valued at the amount of the debt, with their real value being 600 thousand rubles.
