Reuters quoted sources it described as informed as saying that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard reduced the deployment of its senior officers in Syria, after a series of deadly Israeli strikes that targeted its presence and interests there.

Reuters said that 5 sources confirmed to it that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard will rely on Shiite factions allied with Tehran to maintain Iranian influence in Syria.

It quoted 3 of them as saying that Iran would manage its operations in Syria remotely with the help of Lebanese Hezbollah. The agency indicated that it had sought a comment from Hezbollah on this information, but had not yet received a response from the party.

Reuters quoted the aforementioned sources as saying, “Regarding what the ultra-conservatives in Tehran are demanding for revenge, Iran’s decision to withdraw senior officers is partly motivated by its keenness not to be drawn into the raging conflict across the Middle East.”

One of the sources, a well-informed senior regional security official, reported that senior Iranian leaders left Syria along with dozens of mid-ranking officers, and said that their withdrawal represents a reduction in the Iranian presence in Syria.

Reuters said that the source did not mention the number of Iranian leaders who left, and the agency was not able to verify the matter independently, nor was it able to reach the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to comment on the information it received from its sources.

The sources confirmed that Iran does not intend to withdraw from Syria - which is an essential part of Tehran's sphere of influence - as the latest step highlights the regional effects of the war on the Gaza Strip, which broke out on the seventh of last October.

The Revolutionary Guard is going through what may be the most difficult period since its arrival in Syria a decade ago to help President Bashar al-Assad in the war in the country, as Israel assassinated 6 of his senior advisors during strikes in Syria since last December, including the prominent military advisor in the Quds Force, Radhi. Mousavi.
