“Both President Joe Biden and I have made it clear that the United States will not tolerate attacks on our forces. We will do everything necessary to protect our military personnel and interests,” he said at a press conference, as quoted by RIA Novosti as saying by the Minister of Defense.

As a result of the attack on January 28, three American soldiers were killed, and another 40 people were injured. US President Joe Biden said Iranian-backed militant groups in Syria and Iraq were responsible for the attack. Iran, for its part, said it had nothing to do with the strike. The base, called Tower 22, is home to approximately 350 military personnel.

On January 31, the United States named the Islamic Resistance of Iraq responsible for the deaths of its troops.
