Turkish media reported that an armed man stormed a factory of the American company Procter & Gamble near Istanbul and took a number of hostages there.

According to the Turkish police, the man, whose nationality is unknown, stormed the factory located in the Gebze area of Kocaeli state, in protest against the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Agence France-Presse, citing a union representing workers at the factory, said that the attacker was holding 7 people hostage, indicating that the rest of the workers had been released.

Turkish media reported that special forces and ambulance teams arrived at the site to deal with the event, noting that the man had at least a gun in his possession.

Turkish security also closed the main streets in the region and imposed a security cordon around them. The Turkish authorities have not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident.

Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Turkey has witnessed many demonstrations in support of Gaza and demanding that the Turkish government take action to stop the "massacres" committed by the Israeli occupation in the Strip.
