Hebrew media reported details of what is happening in the closed rooms of the Israeli government regarding the prisoner exchange deal, which is being negotiated with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Suleiman Maswad, political affairs correspondent for the Kan channel, said that there is optimism among politicians regarding the ongoing negotiations, noting that the matter depends on the response of the Hamas leader at home, Yahya Sinwar, to the proposed deal.

The reporter quoted informed officials as saying that they are ready to make major changes if they receive a positive response from Hamas.

He added, "Apart from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements (regarding continuing the war), any positive response from Hamas will be met with positive changes and very difficult government decisions."

Suleiman said that the matter appears to be related to a long-term cessation of fighting, and also to the quality and number of Palestinian prisoners who will be released as part of the deal.

Ben Gvir threatens to dissolve the government

In this context, Channel 13 political affairs correspondent Moria Wohlberg said that National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir threatened Netanyahu to destroy the government, in a special meeting that took place last Sunday, to discuss the Paris negotiations regarding prisoners.

Walberg confirmed that "Ben Gvir explicitly threatened that he would withdraw from the government if the shooting was stopped, or Palestinian prisoners who killed Israelis in large numbers were released."
