The Government of the Generalitat has declared an emergency due to drought, an unprecedented situation, which will take effect starting tomorrow, Friday, and will affect six million Catalans in the areas of Barcelona and Girona, whose consumption will be limited to a maximum of 200 liters per inhabitant and day.

This was announced at a press conference after the interdepartmental drought commission by the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, and the Minister of Climate Action, David Mascort.

"We have never faced such a long drought since there have been rainfall measurements. We have had three years in which it has not rained as much as the country needs," justified Aragonès, who has defended the "work" and "investment" to mitigate the effects and delay the entry into emergency for up to 15 months.
