China News Service, Beijing, January 30. Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister, met with Francis, President of the 78th United Nations General Assembly, in Beijing on the 30th.

Wang Yi welcomed Francis's visit to China, saying that China is a staunch advocate of multilateralism, a staunch defender of the United Nations Charter, and a staunch practitioner of international law. China will continue to support the core position of the United Nations in the global governance system and support the United Nations General Assembly in accordance with the Charter. Play a more active and important role in supporting your work as President of the UN General Assembly.

Wang Yi said that today's world is intertwined with chaos and facing unprecedented multiple challenges, and the global development process has experienced significant setbacks. China actively advocates an equal and orderly world multipolarity and economic globalization that benefits all and inclusiveness, promotes global governance based on extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and advocates increasing the representation and voice of developing countries. China will continue to firmly stand with the developing countries and make its own efforts to safeguard the legitimate rights of developing countries. The United Nations will host the "Future Summit" this year, and we expect the summit to propose practical solutions to current prominent and urgent global issues. China will actively promote the alignment of global development initiatives, global security initiatives, and global civilization initiatives with the United Nations agenda, promote high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road", work with other countries to revitalize and accelerate the global development process, and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Wang Yi said that since the adoption of UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, the United Nations and its specialized agencies have adhered to the one-China principle. China appreciates this and opposes any remarks and actions that are inconsistent with Resolution 2758.

Francis said that the United Nations has always adhered to the one-China principle, which is the core cornerstone and top priority of the United Nations system. The government of the People's Republic of China is the only legal government representing all of China, and the United Nations will not deviate from the one-China principle in any form.

Francis expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for its long-term support for the United Nations and multilateralism, and appreciated China's important initiatives. When China held the rotating presidency of the Security Council last November, it successfully pushed the Security Council to reach its first resolution on the situation between Palestine and Israel, making important contributions to maintaining peace. China adheres to the people-centered approach and is committed to sustainable development, which is highly consistent with the concepts of the United Nations. The United Nations will hold the "Future Summit" in September this year, aiming to promote peace, stability, development and prosperity of all countries. China's development achievements have attracted worldwide attention, and its successful experience is worth learning from the majority of developing countries.
