“Shortly before the attempted attack on Sevastopol, the appearance of an Italian Air Force E-550A long-range radar detection and electronic reconnaissance aircraft was recorded in the Crimean direction,” the publication says.

According to Military Chronicle, such aircraft are equipped with electronic reconnaissance sensors to detect radars and electronic warfare systems.

It is alleged that information from these aircraft can be used for target designation and route planning for drones and SCALP-EG missiles around air defense missile systems.

Earlier, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev said that air defense systems shot down an air target over the city, and debris fell in the area of the village of Lyubimovka.
