It is noted that during the meeting there was an in-depth discussion of the situation in the Middle East, including the military confrontation in the Gaza Strip and the escalation of tension in southern Lebanon and Yemen.
At the same time, Russia confirmed its position in support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Lebanese Republic.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at an open debate of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East that the situation on the Lebanese-Israeli border is explosive. According to him, unilateral military actions only worsen the “already difficult” situation in the region.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict could develop into a crisis of regional scale.
