Farmers are turning up the pressure a notch. According to information from Europe 1, 15 farmers are in police custody for "the offense of obstructing the movement of vehicles on a public highway". They were going to Rungis. Europe 1 takes stock of the profile of the operators arrested. 

Quentin, Martin or Noémie… There are 15 farmers in police custody since mid-morning this Wednesday for obstructing freedom of movement. They are questioned at the L'Haÿ-les-Roses police station, in Val-de-Marne, after having "crossed the red line" of the prohibited perimeter of Rungis, according to the Paris police headquarters. They are therefore the first farmers to have been placed in police custody since the start of the movement. Their tractors were immobilized on the side of the road.

According to information from Europe 1, they are between 16 and 38 years old. The majority of them are in their twenties. Fairly young profiles which give an indication of the sociology of the most determined farmers: undoubtedly the daughters and sons of farmers who will take over family farms in a few years.

From five different departments

The 15 farmers come from five departments: Haute-Saône, Haute-Marne, Doubs, Jura and Meuse. They formed a procession heading towards Paris from the east under the banner of the “Rural Coordination” union.
