Olivier Delacroix SEASON 2023 - 2024 05:00, January 31, 2024

Olivier Delacroix goes to meet Elisabeth. Her life changed the day she lost her daughter during the tsunami of December 26, 2004. She agreed to tell her story in this episode of the podcast “Dans les yeux d'Olivier” produced by Europe 1 Studio. On December 26, 2004, at 10 a.m., an earthquake under the sea caused a huge tsunami which hit land on the edge of the Indian Ocean. Three huge waves then destroy everything in their path. In total, 230,000 people died. Among the victims, there is Natacha. A young French woman on vacation on the island of Koh Phi Phi in Thailand, who has just passed her second level of diving. Her mother, Elisabeth, who remained in France, does not yet imagine that her daughter was affected by the disaster. It was when she went to the scene that the mother realized that she would never see her daughter again. But she also notes on site that thousands of children are now orphans. In order not to sink, the mother decides to help them by founding in France, the "NAT" association dedicated to child victims of the tsunami. She then raises funds, which make it possible to save a school and finance supplies and even uniforms. But Elisabeth does not stop there and also decides to help hospitalized children. A way for the mother to pay tribute to her daughter, who is passionate about medicine. Today, Elisabeth lives in Thailand and devotes herself fully to helping children. A way for her to be close every day to the child she lost. In this episode of the podcast “Dans les yeux d'Olivier” produced by Europe 1 Studio, Elisabeth confides her struggle to cope with the death of her daughter.
