As reported in the joint press service of the courts of St. Petersburg, 19-year-old Vyacheslav Zaitsev on March 17, 2023 set fire to an alarm device, as well as centralization and blocking of a relay cabinet, on the specified railway section. For this, a certain curator transferred him a monetary reward.
“The court considered it proven that Zaitsev’s intent was aimed specifically at damaging transport infrastructure facilities in order to undermine the economic security and defense capability of the Russian Federation, which the defendant himself said,” the report notes.
