The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Authority and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club said that from yesterday evening, Tuesday, until Wednesday morning, the Israeli occupation forces launched a new arrest campaign in the West Bank, targeting about 28 Palestinians, including two women, which raised the number of detainees in the West Bank since the seventh of last October to 6240 Palestinians.

The Commission and the Club explained that the arrest campaign was concentrated in the governorates of Nablus, Ramallah, and Qalqilya, while the rest of the arrests were distributed among the governorates of Bethlehem, Jenin, and Jerusalem.

They added that the arrest campaign was accompanied by widespread abuse, severe beatings, and threats against detainees and their families, and the use of a citizen as a human shield in Qalandiya camp, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes, and the arrest of a group of citizens as hostages.

The authority and the club said that the total number of arrests in the West Bank includes those who were arrested from homes and through military checkpoints, those who were forced to surrender themselves under pressure, and those who were held hostage.

Israel has launched a continuous and escalating campaign of raids and arrests throughout the West Bank in an unprecedented manner, targeting all groups, since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7.
